t-shirt fit & shape
Frequently Asked Questions
Our 3-4-LIFE program, together with our informative Sizing Guide [visible on each product page] guarantees you choose the right size of tee, every time.
The Sizing Guide has 2 methods for finding your correct size.
Method 1: measure your own body, then use the Circumference Table provided to tell you what tee will fit your body.
Method 2: measure a t-shirt you already own. Then read the Width Table provided to find a tee the same size as one you already own.
If you want to wear them hanging out, the hem will end half way between your belt line and your crotch i.e. will hang straight, and not bunch messily around the hips. It will be above your hips.
If you want to tuck them in, there will be just enough fabric to put inside your belt.
Our tees are a little longer than, say, a Mick Jagger tee, so you aren't showing off your underwear every time you bend over. But they're long enough so that you can tuck in the front of your tee, into your shorts/trousers, and show off your belt, but leave the back of the tee hanging out, if you wish.
It’s a compromise, not a sacrifice.
T-shirts this decade have become the new shirts, the same way designer jeans became the new trousers back in the 90s.
While we respect those who think tees should be entirely casual-wear - untucked, with shorts and sliders - we also respect the newfound power of tees to look good at office, at night, with leather shoes, with suits.
We are not exploiting the noble, laid-back tee; we're empowering it. We think everyone should wear them, all the time, everywhere.
We just wish we were interested in making belts to sell you too.
Yes, they run true to size. If you normally wear a medium, choose a medium from us.
All our tee use the same blank base to be printed on.
They are designed for a regular fit i.e. between slim-fit and oversize.
Those with broad shoulders may wish to take the next size up.
Those looking for a baggy look, take the next size up.
Lightweight, semi-stretchy fabric.
The tee we print onto has 2 side seams, running from the armpits to the hem, making it 100% consistent in size, every time you order.
Such construction allows a classic-fit's boxy, structured look.
Contrast this to alternative construction of a single seam, tubular design, by the likes of Uniqlo, who offer relaxed-fit, baggier tees, which needn't worry about consistency of size so much.
Additionally, our tees are laser-cut, in vacuum-sealed bags, to ensure the fabric doesn't move even a millimetre, whereas many brands still cut by hand, which causes inconsistency in sizing.
Grade refers to how the raw cotton is refined before it's spun.
There are four grades (ours is grade 4):
1) Carded Open End: the cheapest, least refined, creating rough & stiff cotton.
2) Ringspun: slightly more refined, but still has dirt & impurities naturally found in raw cotton, producing a less soft, less clean, less optimal print surface.
3) Combed & Ringspun: devoid of any impurities, good for printing, but not perfectly soft as time isn't taken to then select the longest staples of cotton with the fewest stray fibres.
4) Airlume Combed & Ringspun (our grade): we comb & ring spin our cotton, but then select only the longest staples of cotton with the fewest stray fibres, leaving it with only 25% of the original raw cotton mass. This produces the softest feel, and best surface for printing.
Our cotton is pre-shrunk before it is laser-cut into a tee shape. While this doesn't eliminate the chances of your tee shrinking when you wash it in your own washing machine, it does mean if it does, it will only do so by 5%, either widthwise or lengthwise, when washed at 30C. Non-pre-shrunk tees can shrink by as much as 15%.
All our above-mentioned tee design features ensure their maximum possible durability after multiple washes. If you follow the washing instructions included on the tee's label, most notably washing with coolish water (30C), your tee will look as good as new for 50 washes.
If you ever wish to replace your worn-out tee, our 3-4-Life Promise guarantees you can forever buy the same size of tee, with the same artwork on it, in the future.
It'll ALWAYS fit identically to previous purchases. We never discontinue a design at the end of a season, nor change the tee it is printed on.
